An office manager from Battle, East Sussex, is preparing to take on the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for blood cancer charity DKMS in memory of her father.

Rachael Newble, Office Manager at Battle-based Parker & Son Construction, will tackle the challenge on 5 September, climbing three mountains in one day to raise vital funds for DKMS.
The cause is particularly close to Rachael’s heart. She lost her dad, Gordon, 15 years ago following his battle with blood cancer and is taking on the challenge both to honour his memory and help other families affected by the disease.
DKMS works to increase the number of potential blood stem cell donors available to people with blood cancer and blood disorders.
Rachael said: “Losing my dad to blood cancer is something that has stayed with me every day. Taking on the Three Peaks Challenge is my way of doing something positive in his memory while supporting a charity that gives hope to other people and their families.
“I know it’s going to be tough, but every blister and aching muscle will be worth it if I can raise money and awareness for such an important cause. I’d be incredibly grateful for any donations, however small.”
Managing Director of Parker & Son Construction, James Parker, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Rachael for taking on such a demanding challenge for a cause that means so much to her personally. Everyone at Parker & Son will be behind her and we really hope the local community will get behind her too and help her reach her fundraising target.”
Rachael has already received generous support ahead of the challenge and is hoping to raise as much as possible for DKMS.
